Un Viaje a la Luz
(A journey to the light)
The photographs shown here are the result of my approach to concrete photography using as a way of expression the raw materials of photography; the light, the fotosensitive material and the camera as my tool.
For this project, I played with the light, with the camera lens, and manipulated the film in many different ways. In some pictures, I applied pressure to the film to distort the results. A couple of them where exposed to the light for a few seconds while developing. Other ones experienced extreme temperature changes.
I wanted to see how the chemicals reacted to all of this manipulations. My main purpose was creating non-representational photographies.
After that, I used the emulsion lift technique into acid-free watercolor paper, which allowed me to explore the possibilities of the materials.
This work is documented as well on a catalog created for the group exposition that took place in St. Gallen, Switzerland on 2009.
What you see here are aesthetic objects made of photographic material.
That’s all.
They do not want to illustrate anything.
They do not want to represent anything.
They are nothing but themselves.
They are just objects referring to themselves.
Independent, without the function of mediation, without an external message.
They exist only for themselves and do not carry a ‘message’ beyond that which can directly be seen and recognized on its surfaces, and in its aesthetic orders.
Just because, they are the message.

Archive copies of the original works are now for sale on request.
These archive copies are digital prints of the photos on acid-free paper, using pigment inks which have a strong light-fade resistance, hand signed and framed.
